Jovita Neliupšienė, Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation, who is on an official visit to Taiwan, will discuss the possibility of economic agreements in specific areas in meetings with representatives of local authorities, academia and business. She will also visit the National Life Sciences Research Park and meet with representatives of the local Lithuanian community.

Key areas of focus during the visit include semiconductors, lasers, biotechnology, joint development projects between start-ups and small businesses, as well as manufacturing and tourism.

„I am delighted that, in addition to the six Memoranda of Understanding signed last October, we have recently discovered more opportunities for cooperation. We have a very intensive programme ahead of us, with several important meetings every day – Lithuania certainly has a lot to offer, even to a technologically advanced economy like Taiwan’s,” said Deputy Minister of the Economy and Innovation Ms. Neliupšienė.

The Vice-Minister will meet with the leadership of the Ministries of Economic Development, Finance, Science and Technology.

She will discuss specific cooperation opportunities and prospects in meetings with representatives of Taiwan’s big business, research centres, microchip and semiconductor manufacturing and other sectors. Among the topics to be discussed will be Lithuania’s proposals for Taiwanese air carriers.

The Vice-Minister pointed out that a competition for the position of Trade Representative at the Trade Representative Office of the Republic of Lithuania in Taipei will be announced in the near future, and the office itself is expected to be opened in the autumn.
